Translation
The GIG has exclusively been written in English.
History
First steps for generating a GNOME installation guide were done in 1998. From 2000 to 2004 the GIG was updated several times the year. In 2004 with GNOME 2.8 the last version of the GIG was published. And the project GIG was closed because of the increased quality of the project GNOME itself.
Gnome Installation Guide
Challenge and Solution
This little GNOME Installation Guide was written to help unfamiliar users to install a stable GNOME system that includes more than the default applications. It teaches the readers how to compile GNOME on their own instead of installing precompiled packages. It also covers installation of extra GNOME programs, both those hosted by the GNOME project and those which are not. It is published under a corresponding license. Your comments and completements are welcome.
