With the upgrade onto the Ubuntu release Lycid Lynx evolution offers a direct way to connect the evolution contacts and the Google mail contacts: using the menu entry New/Addressbook of evolution you must only create an evolution-Google-addressbook - along the lines to the method for creating an evolution-Google-calendar. Following the details for a synchronization via built in features of evol offered on the internet, I had nothing to do more than this:
- Firstly I generated an evolution addressbook of the type Google.
- Secondly I logged into Google.
- Thirdly all accounts were synchronized:
So evolution became my private frontend for the google-addressbook
